In many ways the internet is the great equalizer. We meet many people in different areas of the globe, and not knowing their backround, age, sex, or the way they look in many cases, we are readily more open to see what they have to offer and what their potential really is. On the other hand, sometimes messages can be taken the wrong way when we don't know if something is being said in a humorous way, or if someone is dead serious about something. So it can lead us to the need to more deeply express ourselves, but to also open up to someone that maybe we would not be receptive to if we had seen them on the street or face to face. So communication and the way we do so becomes very important. After all, in this age even young people can often be more knowledgeable and versatile in the computer than some of us old timers.
